    Crayon Shin-chan’s Creator Missing

Post by gaara`s land on Fri Feb 05, 2010 10:55 pm

According to the Japanese newspapers, Mainichi Shimbun and Zaikei Shimbun, an emergency call was received at Sakushi City Fire Department around 10:15AM on Saturday, September 19th, reporting the remains of a body with tattered clothing under a cliff in the mountains of the Gunma Prefecture.
On September 11th, Crayon Shin-chan creator, Yoshito Usui was reportedly going on a hike for the day in the Gunma Prefecture. On September 12th, Usui’s family reported him missing when he never returned from the mountains and the police have since, been searching for the manga artist. The distress call was made by another hiker, saying they had found a body under a ledge. The cliff where the currently unidentified remains are, is an Arafune cliff, the same mountain Usui expressed an interest in climbing.
The remains were apparently lying face down with fractures throughout the body, looking as if it had been there for several days. The clothing remains on the unknown male have been reported by the authorities as seeming to match those of Usui’s. The police of Shimonita have been said they will be recovering the body on Sunday, September 20th where afterwards, an identification can be made.
Yoshito Usui is famous for his manga and anime series, Crayon Shin-chan, a story that follows the five-year-old Shinnosuke “Shin” Nohara and his adventures with his parents, friends and neighbors. Shin-chan appeared first in a magazine called, Weekly Manga Action, stemming afterwards into forty-nine volumes. The show has been on the air since 1992 and now has over 685 episodes, airing all over the world, including three years on Adult Swim, Hungama TV in India and is also extremely successful in Spain and the Netherlands.
Shin-chan has a strange brand of humor that has often encountered difficulty in terms of translation, as many jokes require knowledge of either the Japanese language, customs or culture. Examples include Shin-chan using the wrong set phrase when entering the house or mistaking a phrase for another sounding similar and having the end result be the opposite of what his teacher or parents told Shin-chan to do. The show also has more universal acts of humor including physical mishaps and Shin-chan constantly showing off his naked buttocks.
Yoshito Usui’s other works include, Mix Connection, Scrambled Egg, Unbalanced Zone, Supper Mix, and Super Shufu Tsukimi-san, which ran in the magazine, Manga Life, aimed at the male audience for the ages of mid-twenties to middle aged.
UPDATE: The body of the male hiker has been identified as Crayon Shin-chan’s creator, Yoshito Usui through dental records and other means. Usui’s backpack of wallet, phone, camera and clothing was found about fifty meters away from his body. Death was concluded to be caused by collapsed lungs and other injuries his entire body sustained from the fall.
