    The Very Beginning (Osamu Tezuka)

Post by gaara`s land on Mon Jun 07, 2010 2:02 pm

Tezuka, an established manga artist of his time, told the story of the little robot boy with an atomic heart. Yes Astro Boy, Astro Boy became a hit in america. In japan the atomic destruction of Nagasaki and Hiroshima were still very fresh memories but this animation came out. So i believe Osamu Tezuka used his art and animation skills to try and prevent nuclear warfare between the usa and japan.

I found some of this info online and it really shocked me....
Does this conclusion about Osamu Tezuka, explain his personality? Would you agree with my thought about his intentions?

I haven't seen Astro Boy and i only know little about it, but i do know it's Tezuka's work and every anime fan knows (i think) a little something about him.
I've never heared about a connection between Tezuka's work and the conflict between Japan and USA at that time. It's all new to me and it sounds interesting. However, as much as i'd want to believe there is a connection at all, i don't think it had that great of an impact to affect such an important thing as a war. Lots of people are still nowadays narrow-minded and think that animes are only for kids, so i can hardly believe it would have had an impact on a war back then. Then again, maybe that was Tezuka's intention; that i can't be sure of...
This whole thing is interesting indeed...
